ROLAND AND FLORIAN PEELMAN
It took nearly thirty years, but father and son eventually came together to play music in public. Florian Peelman’s musical upbringing took him from Sydney to Helsinki to Manchester to Antwerp and eventually to Berlin, where he is based and maintains a busy career as a viola soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He has his own viola class at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin and after having toured with the Berlin Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra he performs as guest principal with orchestras across Europe, including with Utopia.
Since 2017, Florian and Roland Peelman have intermittently appeared as a duo for various occasions in Belgium and Australia. They are preparing to release a new album of Viola Songs, and they have welcomed the new work written specifically for them.
